Training for Guides in 2026!

Dear Guides!

Since 1st January 2023, you are only allowed to conduct guided tours in the Cathedral of Esztergom with an internal license issued by us. We provide the opportunity to obtain the license with the Hungarian training detailed below:

Date: 24-25 January 2026 (Saturday, Sunday); The tarining will start at 09:00AM and is expected to last until 4:00PM

Location: Saint Adalbert Event Center, 2500 Esztergom, Szent István tér 10.

Program:
 
Saturday, 24 January, on-site education, church history, church organization, Basilica history, building history of the Cathedral, Basilica exterior interior tour is the planned program.
Sunday, 25 January, on-site education, goldsmith and textile art in the Treasury, actual information, issues related to tourism, presentation of the Treasury's halls on site.

Topics of the training:

- History and remains of St. Adalbert's Cathedral from its foundation to the 18th century

- The history of the construction of the modern basilica (from the middle of the 18th century to the end of the 19th century)

- Works of art in the interior of the Basilica

- Renovation of the Basilica today

- The formation and brief history of the collection of the Cathedral Treasury

- The Treasury on the relics of medieval goldsmithing: types of objects, technical peculiarities, curiosities

- On the modern goldsmith's objects of the Treasury

- On liturgical textiles preserved in the Treasury: types of objects, use, materials and techniques, curiosities

- Most often depicted saints and their attributes, most often depicted symbols and their meanings

The training:

-Presence

- price: for the two days a total of 6.000 HUF/person (this includes the training and the issuance of the permit) payment on the spot at the ticket office, in cash or by card.

- there is no exam obligation for tour guide colleagues who have already passed the exam as part of our training, only for new applicants
