The Esztergom-Castle Cathedral Parish gratefully accepts all donations that help its operation.
Perhaps few people know, but all tourism incomes are spent on the maintenance and operation of the Basilica. The income of the parish consists exclusively of donations.
How do we use the grant? What do we spend the donations on?
— to ensure the conditions for basilica liturgies,
— expenditure on religious education,
— the wages of parish staff,
– for the maintenance of the parish building,
– for all other religious activities and purposes.
In recent years, we have managed to carry out the comrehensive renovation of the parish building, the exterior renovation of St. Stephen's Chapel, the decontamination of the church in Watertown (St. Ignatius), and the purchase of liturgical textiles and objects.
The following tasks are currently ahead of us:
— creating a space suitable for discussion and small group togetherness
—making the religious classroom more homely, adapting and equipping it to the needs of students and groups.
Our largest undertaking is to replace the bells of the Cathedral requisitioned in the two World Wars. For this purpose, continuous collection is carried out.
From 2024, we would like to renew the entire community centre (scout home, faith classroom, community space, service rooms, equipment) step by step, according to our financial possibilities.
Forms of support
1. Church contribution
The worshippers living in the territory of the Cathedral Parish support the parish with their annual financial contribution in its operation and in the realization of its pastoral goals. The recommended contribution rate is 1% of net income — but of course, any amount of church contributions is welcome!
2. Donation
Bárki megteheti, hogy szabad döntése alapján adománnyal támogatja a Főszékesegyházi plébániát. Ez a kötődés egy sajátos jele, amiért hálásak vagyunk. Az adományokat igyekszünk a lehető leghatékonyabban felhasználni a közösség javára.
A célgyűjtések esetében kérjük, tüntessék fel a konkrét célt az adomány
tételekor (pl. „Harang“)!

2. Personal deposit
In the sacristy of the Basilica or at the parish office, you can hand over the amount intended for the grant in cash during opening hours. Our staff confirms takeover with a receipt.
