Dear Visitors!
We would like to inform you about the next phase of the renovation of the Basilica and about the related changes.
The renovation work begins on the area under the dome inscription, the spandrels (4 Western Church Fathers) and the transepts. Due to the works, the installation of a scaffolding system in the church space will soon begin. Therefore, the following changes and provisions go into effect:
- From 4 November 2024 (Monday) to 10 December 2024 (Tuesday), the liturgical space and the Bakócz Chapel will be closed on weekdays due to scaffolding works in the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Adalbert. On weekends (Saturday-Sunday) the liturgical space and the Bakócz Chapel will also be open.
- On weekdays, the Church can be reached on the side between the Basilica and the Castle through the sacristy door. Its location is marked with a cordon, and flags. Due to the works, visitors can enter the elevator and staircase through the Sanctuary, and from there on to the first and second floors.
- During this period (except weekends) the Crypt, Treasury, Cassa, Gift Shop, Panorama Café and Shop of devotional objects operate smoothly.
- On weekends, the entrance will again be from the North Tower. On Saturday and Sunday the church square and the Bakócz Chapel will also be open.
The interior works will last until April 10, 2025, and will cause noise for the first 3-4 weeks.
